  • I keep this Audio Diary/Blog in order to...

...share some of my sonic memories, as a method of storing recordings and in order to explore some audio ecology ideas. From time to time I’ll also post recordings which I’ve made in the past. It should be remembered that the sounds contained within these pages are generally not what I’d use professionally. My sounds tend to come in two flavours, those that are sonic explorations which I (and hopefully others) find interesting, and those which pay my mortgage!

Merry-Go-Round (Carousel)

Posted by listenhear on July 30th, 2008

Once again the BBC weather forecast is way of the mark…..very warm and sunny, not the promised clouds and rain, it happens all the time now…

The Merry-Go-Round (Carousel) on Brighton seafront is one of the few traditional seaside rides left in the town. Always popular. The organ goes horribly wrong around 3′04″.

Sort of a relief to have that organ derailed for a while… ;)

Also, did I hear some Swedish seagulls on vacation?

  2. listenhear Says:

I think the whole of Brighton also shared your relief! It was playing a tune called ‘Lambeth Walk’ written in the 1930’s, a popular London pub song (from the musical Me and My Girl)…

As for the Seagulls, they probably followed the thousands of other Scandinavians who are in the city doing English language courses :)
