Waiting for the car…

April 25, 2010 @ 10:12 pm

A long day as a passenger in a car. Brighton to Southend and then on to Nottingham before finally to Manchester. The difference in architecture and weather on this small island becomes so apparent when you take so much in within such a relatively short period of time, the journey with stops was about 10 hours. Cosmopolitan Brighton, the very British seaside tackiness of Southend, which all makes Nottingham look very normal, finishing with some the stunning Yorkshire villages as we travelled across country from the M1, just north of Sheffield, to Manchester.

So I was waiting for the car here 50.825144,-0.132799

Brighton Marathon Finishing Line

April 18, 2010 @ 6:11 pm

The Finishing Line, on Marine Parade, of the inaugural Brighton Marathon.

Waiting for the first female finisher, Joanna Bryce, with 'local DJ' type event commentary, a difficult job...but...

A lovely warmish spring day.

Bee Chasing

April 12, 2010 @ 9:20 pm

So it's a beautiful spring evening...I have most of my windows open, to both let in the warm early evening sunshine and let out the smell of gloss and emulsion from my newly decorated flat. I'm happily putting my recording gear back together after my decorating (mis)adventures when I become aware of a very loud buzzing which I'm quite certain isn't coming from my loudspeakers I turn around and come face to face with one of the largest Bees I have ever seen...so this is a recording of me following it around my flat trying to help it find its way back into the big wide world again. Finally, it lands on the only closed window in my little flat and which I manage to open releasing it back into the wilds of Northern England... :-)

Steaming

April 12, 2010 @ 1:15 pm

A weekend spent decorating...steaming wallpaper with the sound of a Wood Pigeon echoing down the chimney breast (this pigeon wakes me most mornings as it sits cooing on my chimney...sometimes nice, other times...).
